Underwriters, claimspersons and the courts of law use and depend upon the survey to be fair, impartial and justified in the performance of their profession.  Members are asked to help maintain those high standards of excellence expected from AIMU Correspondents by completing and submitting the Service Standards Survey.

CAUSE OF LOSS

1.       Reports direct/proximate cause as observed

2.       Reports and records date of loss known

3.       Reports and records location of loss

4.       Custody at time of loss

5.       Reports and records results of any lab test given or outside expert employed

   

PACKING INFORMATION

1.       Fully describes both exterior and interior

2.       Fully describes markings

   

PHOTOGRAPHS

1.       Clearly depicted all loss/damage, all notated and dated

      2.   Utilizes digital photo capabilities and electronic mail

   

ACTION TAKEN

1.       Acknowledge receipt of assignment within 24 hours

2.       Provides a preliminary report (written or verbal) within 3 days

3.       Provides interim status reports (monthly)

4.       Utilizes electronic communication (e-mail) whenever possible

5.       Opinions consistent with facts, findings, and observations

   

INSTRUCTIONS

 

1.       Qualified to accept assignment

2.       Acted within the scope of their authority

3.       Assists in salvage

4.       Provides a professional product in a timely manner for a reasonable fee
