S.R. &
C.C. ENDORSEMENT (FORM NO. 11)
The American Institute Cargo Clauses contain a S.R & C.C. (Strikes, Riots and
Civil Commotions) warranty which excludes losses caused by specific perils
listed in the clause. Coverage may be purchased for most of those excluded
perils and is found in AIMU’s S.R. & C.C. endorsement, which also has separate
conditions and exclusions.
The events of September 11, 2001 in New York City and the resultant catastrophic
losses caused by the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers of the World Trade
Center prompted the Cargo Committee of the American Institute of Marine
Underwriters (AIMU) to review the S.R. & C.C. (Form No. 10) that was available
in the marketplace at the time.
As a result of that review, the S.R. & C.C. (Form No. 11), dated March 1, 2002
was published. The basic change in the new form is that it restates and
clarifies that the insured goods are covered while in the ordinary course of
transit, but no longer than 60 days after completion of discharge from a vessel,
or 30 days after completion of discharge from an aircraft. Coverage still
remains subject to the separate set of conditions and exclusions found in the
endorsement.
