AIMU is into a 5th year of organizing a Volunteer Day with the New York Harbor School on Governors Island helping with the Billion Oyster Project and projects around the school's campus. AIMU team members will gain knowledge and hands-on experiences with oyster restoration, build camaraderie with their team, and enjoy a day of outdoor work and fun activities alongside BOP interns and staff on beautiful Governors Island in the midst of NY harbor.

Please help us cover the cost for lunch, bottled water, oyster happy hour, t-shirts, and ferry service.

KEY DETAILS
Number of participants: 40 people
What to bring: water bottle, weather-appropriate outdoor clothing, hat, camera, snacks, etc.
What BOP provides: technical overview and tour of facilities; hand-on restoration activities; optional teambuilding activities; BOP gear and press opportunities

 ITINERARY
9:45 am - AIMU Volunteer team meets at Battery Maritime Building (10 South Street)
10:00 am - Ferry departs for Governor's Island
10:10 am - AIMU team is greeted at Soissons Landing; welcome and overview
10:15 am - Tour of BOP Facilities
10:30 am - AIMU team broken into groups -- Groups and activities TBD
12:30 pm - Break for Lunch
1:15 pm - AIMU team breaks back into previous groups
3:15 pm - Wrap-up volunteer activities
3:30 pm - Cash bar at Island Oyster
4:50 pm - Board ferry 5pm (ferry also at 4pm, 4:30pm, & 6pm) 

There is no charge for this event. If you register and cannot make, please kindly let us know to find another volunteer in your place.
