Presentation will include a brief introduction to the basics and history of General Average and an update on new GA Guidelines and security documents to be adopted at the CMI Conference in Antwerp in late October. Discussion to provide two salvage operations, HOEGH XIAMEN (fire in Jacksonville in June 2020, leading to total loss of vehicle carrier and cargo, found by the NTSB to be attributable principally to inadequate vehicle battery securement) and EVER FORWARD (refloating 12,000 TEU container carrier aground in Chesapeake Bay in March/April 2020, including lightering some 500 cargo containers, and extensive dredging). Presentations followed by Q&A. |
